Brand Creation, Web Design & Development
When we were originally approached by the owner of the RudeSpace site, it was with the intention that we’d be cleaning up some code and design of a social networking site, that was created for the client by an offshore development company. Unfortunately for the client (and fortunately for us as it happened), the creation was beyond redemption; so we ended up creating a new social networking website for adults. The project launched in 2006 – right in the middle of MySpace’s dominance of the social networking marketplace, long before Facebook became the omnipotent monster it is now and years before Pornhub started advertising in mainstream media. The site was massively successful, which we were very proud of.
Functionality on the site included onboarding, profiles, member messaging, photo and video galleries with ratings, an adult Flash games arcade with scoring and a gifting system. We chose to use a combination of Joomla and JomSocial for the core and then coded PHP JomSocial plugins for any features not offered by the addon, including a premium member gateway. To attract initial membership (and later payment) we created a memorable brand and gave the site a dark look-and-feel – which was mirrored by the adverts that were run to announce it’s launch.
